Mushroom Sauce ( Ciulama de ciuperci)

This recipe reminds me of my grandmother, from my mothers side.A sweet lovable woman who guided me through my childhood and raised me for a few years.Sadly she passed away when i was still very young and my memories of her are sometimes blurred but never about her cooking. There is something magical about our grandparents cooking, isn't it ?The way those years and years of experience blend in making a meal for their beloved family and grandchildren especially .Ahh the memories ......snapping back to reality, now this is a very simple recipe which can be eaten as is or as a side dish. For it you will need :

-500g Mushrooms ( Champignon or Button mushrooms do just fine)
-1 Medium Onion ( Brown onion)
-2 Tablespoons of Flour
-200 ml of Sour Cream
-100-150 ml of Water
-4 Garlic Cloves
-1 Bunch of Parsley
-1 Tablespoon of Sunflower Oil

Preparation: Chop the onion up and and place it in pot along with the oil and start sweating it off. When the onion has began to brown add the thinly sliced mushrooms with the water and let it cook for about 15 minutes. In the meanwhile mix the sour cream with the flour in a bowl and have it ready. When some of the water added in the pot has evaporated add the sour cream and flour mixture and continue cooking for 5 more minutes.Chop up the garlic gloves and using a mortar and pestle grind it into a paste then add it into the pot.Cook for 2-3 minutes more then take it off the heat and add the chopped parsley.Serve hot with mamaliguta ( polenta) or a side dish for various roasts and fried meat.Enjoy your meal.

Wish you all the best.
Flo.
